Bowling Green Weather yesterday was another just horrible day outside. All I wanted to do was take a nap all day and just be lazy. It was cloudy, and very rainy in the morning. And you know what? Clouds didn’t really clear out at all. That may be a function of the sun setting at what feels like 1:30 PM, though. The high hit 50°F, 1 degree above my forecast.

Today: Partly to mostly cloudy skies, with highs around 46°F. Overnight, look for an increase in clouds, with a slight chance of light precip. Lows around 30°F.

First things first: that potential snowfall I talked about yesterday morning? Yeah, thats likely not going to happen tomorrow morning. The window of opportunity for snowfall was very tight, and that window has been closed by the models. I’ll discuss that more in a second.

The cold front and trough are marching towards the region like an infantry, and the cold air is about to win over our territory. And it will not be fun for a couple of days. The cold front looks to pass through tonight and send us into a trough, and into the cold air’s command.

Today won’t be terrible, but it leads into a night that just inevitably ends in cold air winning and taking over. Highs today will be in the mid 40s, and we won’t see those numbers again until Saturday at the earliest.

Once we are within the cold air, there is no looking back until it is pushed out by a mid-latitude cyclone at some point, or unless it modifies. The front will move through, and will essentially erase the atmosphere of moisture content. The cold air will lag just enough to keep us from seeing our first snowfall of the year.

The models are either showing that, or aren’t even picking up on precipitation at all. That is how dry this airmass is looking, folks. Now I can’t discount the hi-res NAM, which is showing very light snowfall tomorrow morning, but it is the only model pointing towards that. The cold is for real, though. Neither of Thursday or Friday’s highs look to escape the 30s, which is well below normal for this time of year.

Those temp anomalies are pretty ridiculous! Now, looking ahead into December, the Bowling Green Weather pattern is looking active. Plenty of cold air has built up in western Canada and into Alaska, and is waiting to be advected into the region. This will likely lead to several cold snaps during the month of December. We will also likely see brief warm ups before these occur, and then a sharp crash downward for a couple days after before the cycle repeats itself. There is no pinpointing specifics of any particular weather event, but this activity does set us up for the potential for some snowfall at some point this month. We shall see what happens, but long story short, the pattern looks active.
