Discussion
As I mentioned in the weather news last night, the weather recently has been absolutely boring. Well guess what? On top of the boredom that this weather provides, we are about to see temps get real warm.
I am sad about it, but that was fairly predictable. A ridge is going to build into the region, and amplify to our north as two troughs that are digging on either side of the ridge will force it to amplify and strengthen.
This will begin to give us the warmest weather of the year thus far. Today, we’ll end up seeing mostly sunny skies, with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s across the region.
Overnight, it will remain warm, with partly cloudy skies and lows falling into the mid 60s. During the day tomorrow, not much changes. Partly cloudy skies are looking likely, with highs getting up into the lower 90s.
It will be interesting to watch how the weather unfolds across the northeast on Saturday, as the trough that will likely initiate severe weather across the northeast is likely to dig into the Atlantic. This will further amplify the ridge across the central portion of the US.
Overnight on Saturday, look for mostly clear skies, with lows in the upper 60s. Sunday looks a bit more interesting across the region.
The system I mentioned that will effect the northeast on Saturday will move eastward, with a cold front dragging will behind it. This looks to slowly move into a warm and humid environment across the region on Sunday.
The trough should amplify the ridge, and give us perhaps the warmest temps of the year thus far, as temps look to jump into the mid 90s. Along the cold front, isolated storms are possible as well.
Overnight, look for mostly clear skies, with lows falling into the lower 70s.
Extended Outlook
The extended out look is looking a bit more interesting than before, but still isn’t too interesting.
We look to be underneath a ridge, with troughing just to our northeast during this time period. The majority of the guidance is showing this scenario, and it makes sense. If the trough was to shift westward in positioning, then our weather would drastically change. I would imagine temps will range from the mid 80s into the mid 90s for a lot of next week.
