Cooler Weather Ahead

***Update 9:30am*** The SPC has issued a slight risk for severe weather just south of Bowling Green. Please stay weather aware as storms move through later this afternoon.

Real-time Bowling Green radar:

Today 5/12 – Scat’d showers & storms – High 84/Tonight – Mostly cloudy – Low 58

Good Morning, Bowling Green! Chances for rain showers and thunderstorms remain today thanks to an approaching cold front that will pass through later this afternoon. Southwest winds will give us highs in the mid-80s today with temperatures dropping after the passage of the front.

Surface analysis valid 7pm Thursday (NOAA)

The rain will start to clear out tonight making for a sunny, cooler Friday! Much cooler weather is in store over the next couple days as an upper-level trough digs deeper into the eastern U.S., allowing for cooler air to make its way into our region. You may have put your coats away too soon…

Friday 5/13 – Sunny – High 75/ Friday Night – Partly cloudy  – Low 54

Broad high pressure across the region and northerly winds will give us a sunny, but much cooler, day. We felt a preview of the awful Kentucky humidity over the last few days but dew points will drop tremendously Friday and Saturday when a secondary cold front moves in.

Surface dew points valid 4pm Friday (Pivotal Weather)

For Friday, expect highs in the mid-70s under sunny skies with clouds increasing overnight as another low pressure system moves closer to the area. This will slightly increase rain chances for Saturday morning ahead of the front.

Saturday 5/14 – Light AM showers possible -> Becoming mostly sunny – High 60/Saturday Night – Partly cloudy – Low 40

Much cooler, drier air will filter in on Saturday thanks to a deep upper-level trough making its way eastward. The second cold front will pass through Saturday morning and may have very light, scattered showers along with it. Temperatures will barely make it over 60 on Saturday which will be much different than typical mid-May weather!

Cold front valid 7am Saturday (Pivotal Weather)

High pressure will once again settle in over the area and will decrease clouds throughout the day and overnight. Temperatures will gradually start warming up for the rest of the weekend and into next week.
