I started my morning in Louisville and I will tell you, Bowling Green definitely got the nice end of the weather today. Check out the temperature spread across the state from the Kentucky Mesonet.

Here in Bowling Green, we’re graced with a summer-like Mother’s Day with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 80s! Be sure to get out and enjoy the weather today, because my forecast for the rest of the week looks a little bumpy.

We may see temperatures rise a few more degrees this afternoon, thanks to southwesterly flow. Clouds will be on the increase overnight, with lows remaining mild – in the low 60s.

Monday, May 9 – Iso’d Storms- High 80˚ / Monday Night – Showers & Storms – Low 63˚

WKU Finals Week looks… Unsettled. Not only with student’s stress levels and high coffee intake, but the weather as well.

Upper-level ridging will move through Monday, allowing temperatures to remain above average. Once this ridge pushes through, we’ll be in a good place for showers and storms beginning Monday afternoon. Divergence in the upper-atmosphere allows for lift from the surface, which is a necessary “ingredient” for thunderstorms.

Rain chances look to be scattered during the day tomorrow, but will become more widespread into the overnight hours. Lows Monday night will remain in the low 60s once again, thanks to cloud coverage and southerly flow.

Tuesday, May 10 – Showers & Storms – High 80˚ / Tuesday Night – Showers & Storms – Low 65˚

Storm coverage will continue into Tuesday, due to multiple disturbances in the upper-atmosphere throughout the week. Being in the “warm sector” at the surface will keep temperatures and moisture levels high (dewpoints above 60°), which will allow for some stronger storms to develop.

This week looks to be a shorts/rainboots kind of week, as warm temperatures and storms will be the broken-record forecast. Stay dry, and best of luck with finals!
