Wednesday Bowling Green Weather

Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Wednesday, April 13 – Mostly Sunny – High 69˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 48˚

Happy Hump Day, Bowling Green! If you’re having trouble making it through the work or school week, this forecast may make your day just a little bit better.

After the rainy, cooler, jeans-and-boots weather we’ve been seeing during the first part of April, warming temperatures will move in this week with shorts and shades possible by the weekend.

High pressure will begin to move eastward from the Great Lakes, but sunny skies and dry conditions will stick around for our Wednesday!

A split-flow pattern (jet stream splits horizontally) will allow the southeastern United States to be under the influence of slight ridging in the upper-atmosphere.

This ridging will cause temperatures to jump into the upper-60s in south central Kentucky this afternoon. Clouds will start to increase overnight, with lows dropping into the upper-40s.

Thursday, April 14 – Isolated Showers – High 69˚ / Thursday Night – Iso’d Showers Ending – Low 50˚

The upper-level ridge will continue to amplify Thursday, and will remain over the midwest/eastern United States due to blocking associated with an upper-level low.

What does this mean for us?

Temperatures will stay warm.

This upper-level low will also bring us a slight chance for showers on Thursday, with abundant clouds keeping skies just partly sunny. Models are showing the majority of this rain remaining to our south, but don’t be surprised if south central Kentucky sees an isolated shower or two throughout the day Thursday.

A few showers could stick around Thursday night before drying out and remaining mostly cloudy. Temperatures will jump into the upper-60s during the day, with a mild low around 50° overnight.

Friday, April 16 – Partly Sunny – High 71˚ / Friday Night – Mostly Cloudy – Low 49˚

Friday will be yet another warm day for Bowling Green, thanks to the aforementioned amplified ridge in the upper-atmosphere. Surface winds will attempt to become southerly before ramping up and returning to a more east-southeasterly flow.

Temperatures will easily break 70° Friday, with that pesky closed low keeping clouds present. Guess we can’t complain when the temperatures feel this nice!

Highs are supposed to increase even further moving into the weekend, so be sure to stay tuned for further updates!
