Sweet Relief for Bowling Green Weather

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

Today 7/20 – Isolated Thunderstorms; Hot – High 95° / Tonight – Isolated Showers – Low 76°

A shortwave trough has kicked off a large cluster of storms to our west this morning. These storms will impact us in the morning hours if they hold together. Conditions will once again be hot across the region. With  partly cloudy skies expected in the afternoon, highs will once again be in the mid 90s. The humidity will make it feel more like it’s between 100° and 105°, so stay cool out there.

The combination of this heat and moisture will yield moderate instability across the region this afternoon. With another shortwave trough moving through the region, a few more thunderstorms can be expected. With little shear anticipated in the atmosphere, most of these storms may remain unorganized unless attached to some boundaries. However, the stronger storms may have some hail and damaging wind associated with them. As of now, the Storm Prediction Center has placed a “marginal” risk for severe weather across the region.

Some isolated showers may continue in the overnight hours. A low around 76° can be expected.

Tuesday 7/21 – Partly Cloudy – High 88° / Tue Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 70°

A relatively nicer day is expected on Tuesday as we enter a northwest flow in the upper level pattern. A boundary will move to the south of the region, which will also result in a northerly flow at the surface. Thus, temperatures won’t quite be as high as they have been lately. Partly cloudy skies will be possible across the region with highs in the upper 80s.

Tuesday night will bring partly cloudy skies to the region with a low around 70°.

Wednesday 7/22 – Partly Cloudy; Cooler – High 86° / Wed Night – Isolated Thunderstorms – Low 70°

On Wednesday, the boundary will be pushed further south due to weak high pressure moving into the region from the north. This will result in continued cooler temperature across the region due to northerly flow at the surface. Partly cloudy skies seem plausible with a high around 86°. Be sure to enjoy the cooler temperatures while they last!

Wednesday night, a large cluster of storms may form across Missouri and Illinois in response to a small shortwave trough. This may overspread into our region during the late night and early morning hours on Thursday. Lows will be around 70°.
