Monday Morning Bowling Green Weather Update

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

Today 4/20 – Partly Cloudy; Isolated Showers & Thunderstorms; Windy – High 66° / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 44°

Good morning, southern Kentucky saw some robust thunderstorms overnight ahead of a cold front that is now working west to east across the state. This cold front will help to usher in colder temperatures today with afternoon highs reaching the middle 60s today.

Expect a mix of clouds and sun today with a few isolated showers and thunderstorms popping up behind the front this afternoon. Any showers and storms will dissipate this evening, but the big story today will be the westerly winds of 10-20 mph behind the front today. Winds will be at their highest this afternoon with gusts up to 25 mph.

Drier weather is expected overnight thanks to an area of surface high pressure to our south. Low temperatures will reach the lower to middle 40s.

Tuesday 4/21 – Partly Cloudy; Iso’d PM Showers – High 67° / Tue Night – Scattered Showers – Low 50°

Tomorrow will start off dry but cooler as Kentucky will still be located in a trough in the jet stream. Unfortunately, a weak shortwave disturbance will rotate through the trough tomorrow afternoon and showers will be possible by tomorrow evening. Just when we thought we were going to get a break from the rainfall…

Scattered showers will continue overnight on Tuesday night with low temperatures falling to around 50º. Rainfall will be light and rainfall totals from Tuesday and Tuesday night should stay below 0.25″

Wednesday 4/22 – Mostly Cloudy: Isolated Showers – High 70° / Wed Night – Mostly Cloudy; Isolated Showers – Low 46°

Rain will stay in the forecast on Wednesday as a longwave trough remains parked over the eastern United States. Temperatures will be slightly warmer and precipitation coverage does not look that impressive at this time. Any locations that do see rainfall may see up to 0.1″ of rainfall.
