Contributors Receive First Place in WKU Student Research Conference

As mentioned a few days ago by Mallory Schnell, the the 45th Annual Student Research Conference was held on Saturday, March 28th. Four of our five contributors presented research at the event on topics ranging from teleconnections to winter storms. Several other WKU meteorology students also presented research at the conference.

It was announced on Saturday afternoon that three meteorology majors had picked up first place in their respective sessions for their research presentations. Of those three, two are contributors to Wx Or Not:

Mallory Schnell*: A case study analysis of the 4-5 December 2002 severe ice storm across the southeastern United States

Derek Thompson: The potential influence of rivers on tornado morphology: A local-scale analysis of the Crosstown, MO tornado of 2006

Jacob Wilkins*: A local analysis of the historic lake-effect snow event in Buffalo, NY during November 2014

We’d like to say congratulations to all of the winners, as well as participants in the 2015 WKU Student Research conference!
