On the biggest travel day of the year, a storm off the East Coast could cause trouble for Thanksgiving travelers. The extent of this travel nightmare will greatly depend on where the rain-snow line sets itself up on Wednesday.
Most of the East Coast including areas along Interstate 95 (Washington, Philadelphia, New York, Boston) can expect rain with the possible mixing of and/or transition to snow later on Wednesday. West of I-95 will likely see areas of accumulating snow, making traveling difficult the day before Thanksgiving. Today, this region is experiencing near record highs with temperatures in the 70s; however, cold air will pour in behind the passage of a cold front Tuesday. During this time, a coastal storm is expected to develop in the southeast and move north, bringing precipitation to the East Coast.
With about 2.27 million air travelers expected Wednesday (USA Today), and more on the road, this East Coast storm could bring some difficult traveling conditions the day before Thanksgiving.
