Sunday Morning Weather Update

Real-Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

 Today 11/2 – Mostly Sunny – High 52º / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 32º

6am 28º – 9am 38º – 12pm 48º – 3pm 51º – 6pm 46º

Good morning, things are off to a chilly start across southern Kentucky with morning lows in the upper 20s. A freeze warning is in effect for all of Kentucky until 8am CST as we saw our first hard freeze of the season overnight. This signals the end of the growing season locally.

High pressure will settle over the Tennessee  Valley today and we will see mostly sunny skies and light winds. Temperatures will only reach into the lower 50s, but we can expect a beautiful day today. Skies will remain partly cloudy overnight and temperatures will near the freezing mark. Patchy frost will be possible in many areas.

Monday – Partly Sunny – High 64º / Mon Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 41º

An upper-level ridge will center itself over the southeastern U.S. on Monday and help to usher in some warmer temperatures. High pressure at the surface will keep skies partly cloudy and light southerly winds will aid afternoon high temperatures in reaching the middle 60s. This is perfect weather to start the work week.

Skies will remain partly cloudy over night and low temperatures will be a bit more mild than we have seen lately as readings are expected to only fall into the upper 40s.

Tuesday – Increasing Clouds – High 67º / Tue Night – Showers Likely – Low 51º

Our weather will become more interesting on Tuesday as an upper-level trough to our west begins to slide towards the eastern U.S. By Tuesday morning, a surface cold front looks to be positioned to the northwest of Kentucky. This cold front is associated with an area of low pressure over southern Canada and the front will slowly move east during the day.

While no precipitation is expected in our area during the day, we will see an increase in cloud cover ahead of the front. Winds out of the SSW will help push our high temperatures into the middle to upper 60s.

By Tuesday night shower activity will begin to move east into southern Kentucky. The cold front is expected to become detached from most of the upper-level support so we will not see any strong storms, but scattered showers are a good bet. Expect precipitation amounts on Tuesday night to remain below 0.1″ although the chance of rain will persist into Wednesday.
