Today 7/7 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 93° / Tonight – Isolated Thunderstorms – Low 74°
Today, a longwave trough will be entering the region from the west. We should wake up to relatively calm conditions across the area, perhaps some cloudy skies. We’ll continue to see the temperatures and dewpoints rise throughout the day as we become better established in some southerly winds. A few thunderstorms will be possible.
A majority of the severe weather should remain to the north of the Bowling Green area. However, some of the strong storms may make their way southward before dying out. Thus, we’ll leave isolated thunderstorms in the forecast for the overnight hours. Some of those storms may be strong before quickly dying.
Tuesday 7/8 – Scattered Strong/Severe T-storms – High 90° / Tue Night – Scattered T-storms – Low 72°
On Tuesday the aforementioned trough will continue to move just to the north of the region, while strengthening just a tad. This will enhance lift for thunderstorms to form. Another thing that will likely enhance the risk for thunderstorms is remnant outflow boundaries from today’s storms; outflow boundaries can act as miniature cold fronts.
Some of the storms on Tuesday could be strong to severe with damaging wind and large hail. Instability values will be quite high across the region with very little of a cap on the environment. This leads me to believe that once the thunderstorms form, they could quickly become rather robust in nature. Some of the storms will also be capable of producing very heavy rain due to high Precipitable Water values across the region.
Expect thunderstorms to decrease in intensity and coverage across the region as night falls. A cold front will move through during the overnight hours which will enhance lift. Thus, we’ll keep a chance of scattered thunderstorms in the forecast.
Wednesday 7/9 – Partly Cloudy – High 83° / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 69°
On Wednesday we’ll see much calmer conditions move into the region. The cold front that swept through the region on Tuesday night will take all the hot temperatures and humid air with it. After a few morning showers, we should dry out nicely. Expect highs to be in the mid 80s with partly cloudy skies. Here’s an idea: go fishing.
Wednesday night should be more great conditions with it. Partly cloudy skies with lows around 70°. Can’t really ask for much more in the summer!
