Saturday Weather Update

Real-time Radar:

Today – 6/28 Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d T’storms – High 87º / Tonight – Mostly Cloudy; Iso’d Showers – Low 69º

6am 69º – 9am 78º – 12pm 83º – 3pm 87º – 6pm 85º

Looks like we will start our weekend with another day of warm and muggy conditions with the threat of afternoon and evening showers or thunderstorms. Not exactly what we all want to hear but let’s face it; it’s somewhat expected this time of year and we could use some rainfall here in our area. Expect high’s into the upper 80s with southerly winds throughout the day. Here’s a look at our surface map valid for today at 1pm:

Storms and showers lingering in the area should weaken and diminish overnight with the loss of diurnal heating. Lows in the upper 60s to near 70 across the Ohio Valley.

Sunday 6/29 – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d T’storms – High 88º / Sunday Night – Mostly Cloudy; Iso’d T’storms – Low 69º

Guys and gals, Sunday will be a rinse and repeat forecast generally speaking. Expect another day of afternoon scattered showers and thunderstorms and warm and muggy conditions throughout the day. Southerly flow will continue to allow full access to Gulf moisture to fuel any thunderstorms that develop with the aid of day time heating. Keep an eye on the radar if you have any outdoor activities planned.

Monday 6/30 – Mostly Sunny; Iso’d T’storms – High 92º / Monday Night – Clear – Low 74º

Despite an approaching trough to our northwest on Sunday, jet stream dynamics will remain to our north as suggest by model guidance. Precipitation activity on Monday should decrease in coverage as ridging begins to overcome our upper air situation. Ample sunshine and southerly winds will aid daytime highs into the low 90s across the entire region.

Don’t rule out isolated showers or storms as we still have plenty of access to Gulf moisture. Take a look at NAM expected surface temperatures for 4pm Monday:

Looks like we will be finishing up the month of June on a very warm note and the same for July 1st. Summer heat is here folks. Precipitation coverage will pick back up perhaps on Tuesday. Stay cool and stay hydrated if you’re outside.
