The Heat Is On

Today 6/16 – Partly Cloudy – High 90° / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 67°

If you have been outside today, you know it is really starting to feel like summer, and as Glenn Frey once sang..”The Heat Is On”

Currently, a ridge is establishing itself pretty well over the eastern U.S. and an associated area of high pressure is building in the southeast. As a result we will see hot temperatures, muggy conditions, and partly cloudy skies for the first part of the work week. It looks like we will see our high temperature today reach 90 degrees.

Tonight, the temperature will drop as we lose sunlight and our low will drop into the upper 60s.

Tuesday 6/17 – Partly Cloudy – High 91° / Tue Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 69°

Tuesday will be essentially a carbon copy of today. We will remain under the influence of our ridge and high temperatures will be right around 90 degrees. Here is a look at what the NAM model projects the surface map to look like tomorrow afternoon with that surface high to our southeast and southwest winds advecting warm, moist air into our area:

Lows Tuesday night will dip into the upper 60s again. Feels like summer, right?

Wednesday 6/18 – Partly Cloudy – High 92° / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 71°

The only thing that will be different on Wednesday is temperatures will be just a few degrees higher. Otherwise, just another day in the 90s..

The ridge will start to slowly break down later this week as a trough moves in from the west. This will mean a chance for some thunderstorms by the end of the work week into the weekend.

That’s all I’ve got for this afternoon, stay cool this week and be sure to follow @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWX on Twitter for real-time weather updates.
