The WKU Storm Chase class woke up near Kansas City Tuesday morning and headed west to SE Wyoming and NW Nebraska for the first “chase” day of the trip.
By mid evening, we had caught up to a nice supercell in Goshen County, Wyoming.
While this cell did not produce a tornado, it did exhibit nice storm structure and prompted multiple thunderstorm warnings and even a tornado warning. We followed this storm down the road to Mitchell, Nebraska where it was producing marble sized hail that covered the ground in many locations.
This storm eventually weakened but not without producing a nice rainbow around sunset.
We will be continuing the chase tomorrow and if you are interested in following the WKU storm chase over the next few weeks be sure to follow @wkustormchase on Twitter.
