Despite the chilly start to our day here in Bowling Green, conditions have really warmed up nicely. This afternoon will feature plenty of sunshine across the area as highs reach the middle 70’s. Accompany these pleasant temperatures with a nice southerly breeze around 5 mph, and that folks will give you one comfortable day!

High pressure that brought us plenty of blue skies this afternoon will begin to weaken and work eastward as a few high clouds will increase later this evening. A warm front will slide northeastward across the Commonwealth tonight while taking full responsibility for the partly cloudy conditions. In return, mild overnight temperatures are expected as lows drop into the upper 50’s.

Go ahead..it’s worth a quick celebration!

6am 59º – 9am 71º – 12pm 80º – 3pm 86º – 6pm 84º – 9pm 74º

Although the high pressure will be weakening and working towards the east coast, expect another dry and warm day as return flow really plays into our favor. Highs for Tuesday will boast a summer-like feel to the air once again. Thermometer readings will soar into the mid 80’s under mostly sunny skies as southerly winds increase up 10-20 mph with gust up to 30 mph at times.

The strong southerly component will help keep temperature readings mild once again for Tuesday night with overnight lows dropping into the lower 60’s. This return flow will not only aid in warmer temperatures, but will also provide moisture back across the Commonwealth as our next disturbance works toward the region.

As the cold front approaches the state, additional lift will be present as isolated-scattered storms will develop Wednesday afternoon. The latest forecast from the Storm Prediction Center outlines much of central and eastern Kentucky under a slight risk for severe storms but does not include Bowling Green at this time. Of course this will be subject to change as this system continues to evolve over the next 48 hours.

With that said, any storms that develop across southern Kentucky will still be capable of producing heavy rain and gusty winds. Outside of any storm activity, conditions will be hot and muggy as temperatures reach the upper 80’s.
