Nice & Warm Mother’s Day

Real-Time Regional Radars:

 ———————————————————————————————————————————————————–Today 5/11 – Mostly Sunny; Iso’d Storms– High 84˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 65˚

10am 74˚ – 1pm 80˚ – 4pm 84˚ – 7pm 78˚ – 10pm 71˚

Thankfully, we’re not waking up to the sound of thunder and heavy rain today like we did yesterday. In fact, we have sunny skies creating a beautiful start to Mother’s Day.

The sunshine will be the prominent weather feature through much of the day, however, isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected to pop up in the area by early afternoon. Not everyone sees rain from these today, but those that do could see brief heavy rain, lightning and possibly some gusty winds or small hail in the strongest storms.

Here is a look at what the HRRR model thinks we’ll see this afternoon (loop valid from 12pm – 7pm in 1 hour increments):

The lack of upper-level wind shear will keep any storms from sustaining any real strength. Our chance for any storms will decrease as we near sunset as we loose daytime heating.

Otherwise, the sunshine will allow things to warm up quite nicely… maybe a little too warm for some. We should top out in the low to mid 80s but we’ll drop back into the mid 60s overnight under partly cloudy skies.

Mon – Partly Sunny; Iso’d Storms – High 87˚ /  Mon Night – Partly Cloudy; Iso’d Storms – Low 65˚

Rinse and repeat…. tomorrow will be nearly identical to today. We’ll have warm humid conditions with generally partly sunny skies before a few afternoon pop up storms could move in. It will be a bit breezy with winds from south-southwest at 10-20 mph.

Tue – Partly Cloudy; Scat’d PM Storms – High 84˚ / Tue Night – Scat’d Showers & Storms – Low 59˚

Yes, we’ll see yet more chances of showers and thunderstorms… I know, I know, enough already. Hang in there I’m sure we can get through this…

We’ll start off Tuesday with weather conditions looking to be much the same as both today and Monday, however, an approaching frontal system will provide enhanced lifting thus giving us more widespread and organized thunderstorm activity Tuesday afternoon.

At this time, we’re not too worried about any severe concerns, but we’ll monitor that possibility as we draw closer.

Surface features valid for Tuesday morning. Notice the approaching cold front.

As the front ever so slowly moves into our area, we’ll see scattered shower and storm chances continue into Tuesday night and right on into Wednesday. It looks like this front may give us a bit of a cool down as we move into the later half of the week.

That’ll put a wrap on this forecast. You can always catch the latest weather updates on twitter by following @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWx. Happy Mother’s Day to all you mom’s out there. Thanks for reading everyone.
