Wednesday Afternoon Update

Wednesday afternoon…it’s all downhill from here.  Or maybe not.

This Afternoon – Sunny – High 29˚ / Tonight – Clear & Cold – Low 16˚

Everything I said this morning will hold true for the remainder of the day.  In simpler terms, the forecast is in ship-shape.  High pressure is in complete control to our northwest.  This feature will give us sunny skies to go along with light northerly winds through dusk.  Tonight, we’ll stay clear and cold.  Here’s a look at the current surface conditions:

Thu – Sunny – High 46˚ / Thu Night – Clear – Low 17˚

More of the same.  Yada, yada, yada…blah blah blah.  High pressure will nose in from the southwest.  This will shift our surface flow from the southwest as well, which will result in slightly warmer temperatures.  I don’t know about you, but temps in the mid 40s sound a hell of a lot better than the upper 20s.  For Thursday night, clear & cold will continue to dominate the weather headlines.

Moving right along…

Fri – Sunny – High 39˚ / Fri Night – Scat’d Rain & Snow Showers – Low 32˚

That thing we call the sun will be back, which is good.  The bad news is that our flow will shift northerly once again, which will suppress our temps to the upper 30s – lower 40s.

Friday night is when our next weather maker will move in from the west.  Available moisture will combine with forcing to produce scattered rain and snow showers.  This does not look to produce anything significant, folks, so hold off on hijacking the milk & bread truck.  Temps should only tumble to right around freezing, meaning any impacts should be minimal, if any at all.

As we get into the weekend, a series of weak disturbances will keep isolated to scattered rain showers in the forecast, as temps hold in the mid – upper 40s.  Nothing beats a nice, cold rain…am I right?  Psssshhhh.  Sunday looks to bring with it widespread precipitation, starting off in the form of rain.

Sunday night into Monday, we could be looking at significant impacts from winter weather.  The GFS model run provided below is valid for 6pm Sunday, and paints a nasty picture of ice across the viewing area.  This system looks to push southeast with a cold front, which would result in a changeover to all snow before it’s all said and done.

We’re still a few days out from this event unfolding, with several questions still unanswered.  With that being said, it’s something I’ll be monitoring very closely.  If this comes to fruition, it won’t be good.  Stay tuned.

That’s all I’m made of, folks.  For more frequent weather info, stay in touch with @WarrenCountyWx & @Wx_Or_Not on twitter.  Enjoy what’s left of your Wednesday, and stay warm.  Thanks for reading.
